Perseids Fanfare
(2011)
brass quintet
Duration: 4 minutes
The Perseids are an annual meteor shower that appear July-August coming from the direction of the constellation Perseus (a Greek mythic hero). I am a constant stargazer, regularly enjoying several nights a week gazing up at the infinite wonders of the heavens. This is especially true during meteor showers, watching them zip across the sky, some burning out quite quickly, others trailing fire and burning up at the last second.
This fanfare is dedicated to that sense of excitement and wonder. Each part shares the load of melody and technical runs, making it a challenging but fun piece to perform.
