Squareman's Jazz
|
Squareman's Jazz was written somewhat on a whim...as well as to fill up time on one of my undergraduate euphonium recitals. I came up with the title to describe the average eupher's jazz abilities, which are often very "square" (myself emphatically included). Much of the piece is built around the most basic B-flat blues scale, with a funk section owing some inspiration from a Frank Zappa tune. "Squareman's Jazz" was originally published in the I.T.E.A. journal (Vol. 34:4 - Summer 2007), featured in the GEM Series No. 10.
