Been keeping very busy with writing, but thought I would take a minute to post an update. This is shaping up to be a very productive spring of new premieres, publications, and tentative recordings (more on that later).
First up, three new pieces will be available for purchase shortly:
Nomadic Dances - For solo tuba and piano. Written for tubist Preston Light. It's a highly rhythmic and CRAZY workout similar to the Plog "Three Miniatures." Available from Cimarron Music.
The River's Nightsong - For solo tuba and piano. Written for tubist Ryan Snell's graduate lecture recital. A beautiful, lyrical piece that utilizes the tuba's mid and upper ranges. Available from Cimarron Music.
Primordial Flame - For tuba quartet. Written for Eufonix Quartet. A post-minimalist "aural daydream" with each part sharing the melodies and note runs. Available from Potenza Music.
This year's Southest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference (SERTEC) is being held at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville from March 19-21. I will have two new pieces being premiered during the conference. First up is a solo work for tuba and piano called "Brumous Fantasies" that will be premiered by my tubist friend Tracy Luna. The Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble octet will be premiering a new work as well, still untitled, during their program. I will be attending the conference and look forward to seeing everyone and hearing whatever is up to on the horn!
